Miscarriage - Digital Painting Series

On April 7th, 2022, my husband and I experienced the loss of our first child. This was a day of heartbreak, utter sorrow, and overwhelming grief. I was only five weeks pregnant, and we had just shared our exciting news with our family and close friends. This was one of the most painful and difficult experiences that I have ever gone through. While miscarriage is much more common than I ever realized, each person responds, processes, and grieves differently. One way that I personally grieved and expressed this experience was by creating a series of conceptual art that illustrated life at conception, the loss of miscarriage, the comfort we experienced from the Lord and those close to us, as well as the Lord’s faithfulness. This series displays beautiful imagery while act as a liturgy of grief. I pray that viewing the paintings (alongside of Scriptural truths) will cut a path to grief and lament while also serving as a reminder of what the Lord has done as creator, author of life, and comforter. He has brought us through an incredibly difficult season while still showing His faithfulness to us always.
